Our Mission
WE TURN WASTE INTO COMMUNICATION.
BELIEVING EVERY OFF-CUT HAS SOMETHING TO SAY.
The Circular Alphabet, powered by Kapdaa, transforms textile waste into functional typefaces. By re-imagining discarded fabric as language, the project diverts materials that would otherwise be sent to landfill or incinerated, encouraging processes that pollute our environment and trigger damaging ripple effects across ecosystems and communities. Each typeface is designed by creatives around London, from students to industry professionals; all are welcome to take part.
At the same time, design and communication continue to shape culture, influence behaviour, and drive consumption. Typography surrounds us: in advertising, branding, packaging, and media. Yet it rarely reflects the material consequences of the systems it promotes. We hope to reshape the narrative around what we throw away into a form of positive communication. By doing so, each typeface is carefully designed to decrease ink usage and speed loading digitally.
